Perseids Meteor Shower Star Safari

Finally, a meteor shower worth travelling for – and photographing!

Join the Travelling Telescope to witness one of nature’s visual treats – the Perseid Meteor Shower.

3 days (2 nights) overland trip

The most reliable meteor shower of the year finally coincides with a tiny, waning crescent Moon – meaning perfectly dark skies to witness this awesome spectacle. But only awesome if you join the Travelling Telescope for this special occasion. Our partners Bunduz are setting up a mobile camp in the wild, and it will be in the best spot for this experience.

Along with views through our fantastic telescopes, we’ll also provide tips on astrophotography. Saturn will be a certain highlight as it will be with us almost throughout, as will the central overhead band of the Milky Way – a joy for photographers.

What is a meteor shower? When a space rock enters Earth’s atmosphere and the resistance of the air on the rock makes it extremely hot, then we see what we call a “shooting star.” That bright streak is not the rock, but rather the glowing hot air as the hot rock zips through the atmosphere.
Book soon, limited availability!

The Shooting Star Safari happening in Samburu will be from the 11th to the 13th of August. We will have 2 nights of star gazing alongside other daytime activities.
To have the best Meteor shower experience, star gazing will start from dusk to dawn.
